Harry St.Ours is Professor of Communication Arts Technologies at Montgomery College in Maryland. He is a former Smithsonian Faculty Fellow and Associate with the Center for Teaching and Learning. He was named an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2007. A professor of art for nearly four decades, he has had great fun teaching most every subject in fine art and applied design at some very cool colleges in the States and abroad, and is still captivated with the wonderful images and software coming out of the design community. He designed and offered the first-anywhere, live-online, for-college-credit curriculum in computer graphics, in a joint venture between America Online and the Corcoran College of Art & Design, and was first to present for Montgomery College a for-credit semester-length iLife class. He has served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Design in the School of Architecture and Design at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to that, he was Co-Director of the Communication Arts Program at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. He has also taught at the Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington, DC, Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, the University of Maryland in Germany, and elsewhere. He has presented numerous papers and given lectures and presentations at major conferences, including the European Academy of Design in Bremen, Germany, the Hawaii International Conference on Arts & Humanities in Honolulu, the College Art Association (CAA) in Seattle, the AIGA Design Frontier Conference in Denver, the League for Innovation Conference in New Orleans, the eDucation Without Borders Conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the WebNet World Conference in Orlando, Educom in Philadelphia, and at all the acronym places over the years: SIGGRAPH, Seybold, SECAC, AICAD, CCHA, CRBS, MCAC, LICC, WCET, and many others. He was co-author of the well received book Illustrator 7 Complete and has had images and articles published in numerous periodicals and publications. A marble sculptor by training and practice, currently he teaches exclusively computer art and design. His own art includes over 30 years of regular exhibits of sculpture as well as large-format prints of his digital images and panoramic photography.
